THE BUSINESS

Barbecues Galore is one of Australia’s most recognisable brands and has been a household name since 1977 with over 90 stores Australia wide specialising in barbeques, outdoor furniture and heating. Barbeque brands such as Turbo, Beefeater and Ziegler & Brown are ubiquitous in Australian back yards because Barbecues Galore are passionate about their wide range of products.

The Objectives

it works were engaged to lead the business transformation program commencing with the replacement of the ageing Berger ERP system with a Microsoft ERP system that would become the cornerstone of the IT landscape. The main driver for the project was the ability to deliver a seamless Click & Collect experience for both the customer and staff. The lack of integration between the Berger system and Island Pacific Point of Sale necessitated cumbersome workarounds that culminated in costly inventory movements across the store network and extended lead times for customer pickup, ultimately delivering a poor customer experience and a negative impact on profitability.

The ERP replacement was a foundational component that would open the path to a true omni-channel shopping experience and enable the introduction of more modern e-commerce and in store Point of Sale systems

The expertise provided by it works:

it works was selected to lead a 14-month ERP replacement project including;

  • Project Management and Governance of the ERP build and implementation

  • Project Management and Governance of the POS integration

  • Project Management and Governance of the e-commerce platform integration

  • Business Analysis services to identify integrations required and document new process flows

  • Quality assurance services to devise the testing strategy and manage the execution

  • Change management services to identify organisational change as a result of systems and process changes

     

The Outcome

After 14 months, it works delivered a successful implementation of the Microsoft Navision ERP integrated with Legacy e-commerce and Point of Sale systems.

 The project delivered;

  • Replacement of Berger ERP with Microsoft Navision ERP

  • Full integration between Microsoft Navision and Island Pacific POS

  • Seamless integration of Click and Collect orders with Island Pacific POS

  • De-activation of a significant number of Microsoft Access applications required for reporting and Click & Collect order processing

  • BI reporting in TM1
