THE BUSINESS

Founded in 1999, Industrie is an Australian men’s clothing institution. Their focus is on producing modern, practical, affordable and instinctively masculine clothing for every man. Industrie now has over 112+ retail stores across Australia & NZ as well as concession locations in Myer.

The Objectives

Following unprecedented online growth and the desire to expand in to the US market, the Industrie team required a number of projects to to be executed in order to facilitate the launch into a new market. Activities included; assessing the capacity of existing systems to scale with planned growth forecasts locally and internationally, the design and implementation of a new US optimised website, improved integration and implementation of a new AU optimised website.

Before these projects could be kicked off, Industrie engaged it works to undertake a targeted engagement which was to conduct a detailed  Discovery and Assessment of the organisations; current strategy and business model, existing technology and architecture, current people capabilities and a current state business processes review.

At the completion of the Discovery and Assessment, Industrie would be better placed to make robust and informed decisions on the order and timing of how to conduct/phase its programme of work and associated activities in order to achieve its wider US expansion strategy and maximise online revenue.

The expertise provided by it works:

it works were engaged to work alongside the Industrie executive in a series of detailed workshops to:

  • Discover and analyse the strengths/weaknesses/opportunities/threats to the Industrie business

  • Discovery interviews covering the following areas: Business Strategy and Growth; Forecast Sales Channels; Customer Service; Fulfilment and Order Management; Inventory Management; Product Information Management; Ecommerce & Social;

  • Particular attention was paid to those processes that rely on RMS/ERP, e-commerce and Point of Sale solutions

  • Discovery and analysis of strengths/weaknesses/opportunities/threats associated with each business process area

  • Based upon observations provided in Discovery, to then investigate/conduct an assessment with key internal stakeholders;
    - required functionality/business services
    - solution options - what/who is being used currently/what alternatives are available?
    - service options - what/who is being used currently/what alternatives are available?
    - what existing investigations/projects have been/are being performed?
    - identify key business milestones over a 2 year time period – identify incremental business change
    - establish functional owners and ongoing maintenance and delivery against roadmaps

The Outcome

Working alongside the Industrie executive, the it works team were able to deliver a detailed body of work that would allow the business to expand into the US market and capitalise on significant e-commerce channel revenue potential.

Our remit included:

  • A detailed SWOT analysis on whole of business and individual functions

  • A detailed current/required Logical and Physical Solution Application Architectures

  • A detailed Systems Gap Analysis Reviewing daily operations required to run the e-commerce channel, including management reporting, identifying current issues and risks within the channel

  • A detailed TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) of indicative costs and implementation timeframes and options

  • A detailed documented list of business processes derived from pre-defined use cases currently that need to be replaced with a business priority assigned based on key opportunities arising from the SWOT analyses

  • Presentation of all completed works to the executive and board.
