THE BUSINESS

Oroton is synonymous with craftsmanship, accessible luxury and a unique Australian sense of beauty. With over 80 years of commitment to innovative design, using time honoured materials and techniques, Oroton has a long and respected history. Founded in Sydney in 1938 by Boyd Lane, Oroton started as an importer of luxury European textiles. From its very beginnings, Oroton believed in quality, working to source the best materials from around the world.

The Objectives

it works were engaged by the board to undertake a fully independent review of its existing solution architecture including ERP, POS, and e-commerce platforms. Oroton’s ageing architecture and legacy systems were significantly stifling its ability to grow organically through new channels and also globally, as well as limiting their ability to re-engineer existing inefficient and costly business processes. Ultimately it was preventing them from implementing any major new initiatives to improve the customer experience across all touch points.

Having recently come out of voluntary administration, its new shareholders and the senior leadership team knew that in order to enable the business to deliver consumer experiences commensurate with market expectations, it had to undertake a major Digital Transformation. One that would allow it to become best of breed in terms of its customer experience, operating model and also allow it to realise the benefits of a new omni-channel architecture. This included business process improvements and efficiencies, significantly improved revenues through opening up new revenue channels such as click and collect, ship from store, entering new markets, improved profitability, access to rich data, customer focused insights and much, much more.

The expertise provided by it works:

The delivery included:

  • Reviewing Oroton’s existing solution architecture vs desired future state requirements

  • Independently managing the tendering, RFI, selection & scoring processes for all new software solutions and implementation partners

  • Project Management and Governance of the ERP build and implementation

  • Project Management and Governance of the POS build and implementation

  • Project Management and Governance of the OMS build and implementation

  • Project Management and Governance of 14 other 3rd Party solution integrations (Inc 3PL, Freight Fwd, Reporting)
