THE BUSINESS

Based in Queensland, Spencer Brands Group (SBG) is an Australian owned retail and wholesale business servicing a range of consumer and business markets. SBG has operated as a direct wholesaler, specialising in scientific workwear and providing a range of branded products to university, education, science, retail, fashion and health markets for over 15 years.

The Objectives

After the successful delivery of the initial engagement by it works to assist SBG navigate and complete the selection process for a new RMS Solution replacing a constraining and inefficient legacy suite of solutions, SBG re-engaged it works to manage the delivery of the selected portfolio of solutions including CIN7 RMS, XERO Financials and PROSPECT CRM.

The expertise provided by it works:

· Leading the delivery and implementation of the selected tech stack (Project Management and Governance expertise)

· Orchestration of meetings and workshops to stand up teams, work streams and assignment of roles and responsibilities

· Conduct extensive discovery and requirements gathering workshops to capture current and desired future state business processes and user stories

· Lead and coordinate all data migration activities

· Define and document all integration requirements with other systems in the form of user stories

· Provide quality assurance activities including managing the various vendor partners, to the delivery of a quality system for User Acceptance Testing, coordinating with internal client SME’s on development of the User Acceptance test plans and orchestration of the testing and remediation activities

· Manage all vendor partners in configuration of third party integrations/connectors

The Outcome

In under 4 months, the it works x SBG partnership was able to deliver a newly implemented suite of applications:

  • Project success criteria met: Project delivered on time, on budget and to scope

  • Ensured all stakeholders including SBG and system implementation partners clearly understood their roles and responsibilities

  • Successful management and mitigation of project risks

  • Ensure that all solutions are built and tested to an agreed quality standard

  • Delivery of a framework for driving continual business improvements was established allowing for: better business processes to be established; existing business processes to be re-engineered; efficient use of new systems; the successful adoption of new systems by the team

  • Reduced total cost of ownership for running the new tech stack
