THE BUSINESS

Proudly turning 150 Years Old in 2020, Tradelink takes centre stage as Australia’s oldest plumbing merchants, operating as part of the publicly listed Fletcher Building Group. Whilst considerable financial investment has been made in modernising and expanding their portfolio of nearly 300 retail stores and showrooms, the executive team saw significant opportunity lying dormant in its underinvested digital channel.

The Objectives

The successful delivery of the initial engagement by it works to provide consulting services specifically in conducting Discovery, Assessment and Strategy workshops indicated that the business needed to adapt how it provides retail experiences to it’s B2B and B2C customer base. The executive team were clear that the digital channel in its current state needed a refresh. The team were tasked with establishing a phased programme of change (both tactical and long term / strategic) that would take the Tradelink business on a journey from bricks and mortar retailing to an omni-channel environment. 

The initial phase of the digital transformation programme of change was to undertake a Platform and Partner Selection Process to evaluate and assess a variety of e-commerce and supporting solutions that met functional and nonfunctional requirements of the business.

Expertise provided by it works included an e-commerce strategy creation and evaluation, business process mapping, tender management and project management service. The team also looked at RFP and RFI documentation and pre-qualification documentation creation, technical documentation creation and other subject matter expertise to support the selection process.

The Outcome

In under a month, the it works x Tradelink partnership was able to deliver a fully conducted Platform and Partner Selection Process that ensured a robust, suitable and cost effective e-commerce solution and supporting 3rd Party applications.
